Saturday morning belongs to the market, and it moved

If you last went to the outdoor market when it was still called The Market at Magnolia Green, you have been going to the wrong parking lot. Formerly known as The Market at Magnolia Green, it is now The Market at Hidden Wit, and the beloved tradition continues every Saturday morning from late April through late September. The vendors, the produce, the artisan goods all followed. What changed is the setting: the market now spills out onto the lawn at Hidden Wit Brewing Company at 21110 Hull Street Road, which means you can finish your tomato and honey haul, then sit down to brunch without moving your car.

That last part matters more than it sounds. The old Magnolia Green setup was a market and then you left. The Hidden Wit setup is a market that hands you off to a kitchen. The brewery's Sunday brunch runs 10 AM to 2 PM, then flips to regular service until 8 PM. On Saturdays the brewery opens at 11:30 AM, roughly ninety minutes after the market wraps, so the transition is a coffee and a walk around the lot.

The market runs rain or shine through the last Saturday in September. If your calendar is tight this summer, the highest-value visits are the mid-August weekends when the sweet corn and late tomatoes both peak.

The berry farm's summer isn't about berries

Thursdays are the sleeper night

Hidden Wit is closed Monday and Tuesday, opens Wednesday and Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM, and Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM. That Thursday 4 PM opening is the one to plan around, because it lines up with the brewery's weekly live music slot. The lineup is not filler. Sayer's Brew, a group of Richmond musicians who met while performing in School of Rock's House Band, plays a repertoire that blends rock, pop, ragtime, funk, and jazz. Other regular acts range from fingerstyle guitar to folk rock, which means the same Thursday habit does not feel like the same Thursday twice.

If you want a Thursday with a longer sightline, Magnolia Green Golf Club & Grille runs its own concert nights on the lawn. The Club & Grille at 7001 Awesome Drive hosts open-to-all evening events, including a June 18 show from 6 to 9 PM and a July 9 show from 6 to 9 PM. The venue itself is a draw independent of the calendar.
